We hosted our second semi-annual Websense User Group to help our clients achieve maximum potential from their Websense solutions. Dave Tasker (Senior Solutions Architect) led the group, with help from Rick Grimaldi (Director of Technical Services) and Garret Weber (Websense Sales Engineer).
The purposes of hosting user groups are to create a valuable peer network for sharing knowledge, provide an open forum in a well-planned environment, and offer access to reliable technical support. We find that by hosting these productive ‘meeting of the minds’, we are able to truly understand the challenges experienced by our customers and extend our services to help improve their overall security posture.
A wide range of K logix customers attend, all with the same goal of coming away with crucial knowledge and answers to enrich the products in their security program. Bringing together a quality group of people facilitates high-level conversations and problem solving.
Our goal is to ensure each customer has the opportunity to contribute to the structure of the discussions, so we conduct extensive surveying prior to any user group. Customers are able to submit ideas for discussion topics, questions, and comments, allowing our group discussions to be custom-tailored to fit the needs of our customers.
During our most recent Websense user group, Rick Grimaldi made the introductory marks, including a technical services update and an overview of the K logix and Websense relationship. Rick discussed the training program for our technical staff that includes four weeks of training per year (ISC2, CompTIA, SANS, Offensive Security, E-council, ISACA, and security vendors i.e. Websense). Rick also overviewed the thirteen year partnership with Websense which has involved the development of many strategic configurations and policies that are then shared with our customer community. Overall, Rick ensured customers that the purpose of the user group was to share their good and bad experiences, listen to others and compare to their own environment, learn how to best utilize their product investment, and determine appropriate operational, tactical, and strategic plans.
After some highly beneficial road mapping from Websense Sales Engineer Garret Weber, Dave Tasker led informative discussions for the rest of the afternoon. Based on detailed surveys completed prior to the group, the strategic topics that Dave focused on included:
• ThreatScope
• TruHybrid
• WebDLP
There were a number of reoccurring questions and challenges voiced by our customers, with two of the most common being SSL decryption and Websense AirWatch.
Based on these topics, many important questions and challenges were shared, producing a strong sense of advantageous collaboration throughout the discussions. Overall, we greatly appreciate the level of valuable dialogue amongst our customers and we look forward to continuing our long-standing partnership with Websense.
